This American musket is composed of an American stock with French and Indian War period British and French parts. The 45" barrel is British proofed and engraved London on the top with a * R.W(Richard Wilson) by the proofs. This barrel and sideplate would have been from one of Wilson’s contract muskets(1755-1757)  with the Colony of New Jersey or with the City of New York. The lock has been scrubed of all it’s markings with a file so it’s safe to assume that it’s of British origins and had a distinctly American cock added to it at the time of assembly. The trigger guard and butt plate are off of an early French musket. The stock I would attribute to eastern Pennsylvania because of it’s pronounced Roman nose.A really attractive musket that more than likely saw both Wars.
