These Spontoon Pipe tomahawks are the most sought after and the hardest to find. The head is 9" tall and the original haft is 21 1/4" with 52 brass tacks. The tacks have a wonderful untouched patina.  John Baldwin in his definitive work "Tomahawks-Pipe Axes-of the American Frontier"  chroniciled the different head shapes and designs by Indian tribes ( refer to photo's). He states that this head design was used by both Apache and Comanche tribes. A really great looking Hawk!
