I've owned this neat Gettysburg Relic for about 25 years. It's marked in old ink on the stock 'Gettysburg 1863 ' by the lock screw hole and 'Rosensteel' on the front of the stock. These ink markings have faded over the past 150 years but are still discernible with a magnifying glass. You'll need to hover over the picture to magnify  it while viewing.   This obsolete pistol would have been carried by a Confederate soldier as the federal troops were basically using percussion revolvers by the time of the Battle of Gettysburg.

John Rosensteel  started gathering guns, swords , cartridge box's etc. off the Battlefield the day after the battle. He was 16 at the time. He was the original source of what would become the National Gettysburg Collection.
