This is a rare unaltered '73 trap door carbine. It has all the early features with no upgrades. The carbine show signs of being a Indian captured gun with the sling ring and front sight blade being removed. I've had a few Indian guns with the front sight blade removed . It appears they preferred to aim through the base channel. The stock is well weathered from exposure to the elements and has taken on a beautiful patina. The serial #39786 is prime Custer range with #39742 listed in the Ft. Keogh survey and # 40173 as Captured from Sioux in Custer Battle. The left butt stock has a few punch dot symbols including a "7" and what appears to be a hoof print . This is the real deal which is seldom seen for sale these days. It's been in my personal collection for a number of years.
