This is one of the first 1876 Winchester’s produced . These rifles were produced in honor of our Country’s 100 years anniversary and are sometimes referred to as the Centennial Model. It’s a open top with the lowest serial number I’m aware of serial # 77. The 28″ octagon barrel is in .45-75 cal. as are all the first models. The bore is good with strong rifling. The barrel and receiver retain a pleasing blue brown patina . The wood is pretty nice with a good wood to metal fit. The action is smooth and crisp. The rifle still retains it’s original cleaning rods in the butt stock compartment. I checked Geo. Madis’ TheWinchester Book and he had no 2 digit 76’s listed. Actually the lowest serial number listed was a 3 digit serial # 322. Rifle will come with a Winchester factory letter. This is a rare , rare Winchester! Sold
