John D. Chevalier was a Bowie Knife and surgical instument maker in N.Y.C, N.Y.  According to Norm Flayderman in his Bowie Knife book Chevalier was the first to use the California Knife logo.  He also has the almost identical knife, from his collection, pictured on page 348.  His doesn’t have a scabbard where as this one does. The blade is 7 1/2″  and is still razor sharp.  The handle appears to be ebony and is all there. Overall length is 11 3/4″.  A really great looking Bowie by a very coveted maker. Sold
