This a very attractive early 1880's cased Smith & Wesson D/A 2nd model . It comes in it's original form fitted factory case which contains it's orig. cleaning rod and screw driver. The cartridge compartment contains 5 Rem. .38 cal. cartridges. The case lid as well as the pistol backstrap are inscribed to George R. Redfield. The pistol retains 95% of it's original factory nickle finish with generous amounts of case colors on it's hammer and trigger. On the barrel latch and trigger guard there appears to be about 85% of it's factory blue finish remaining. Serial # 61462 is visible on the butt strap and the back of the cylinder. The pearl grips have taken on a iridescence and the right grip exhibits a wonderful raised carved Eagle and Snake suggesting American Southwest heritage. A wonderful outfit that could prove fruitful with further research.
