This neat pistol was originally shipped to Kissam & Co.,N.Y.C. on April 29,1876 . From there it made it's way to Frio City, Texas where it was found in the chimmey of what was left of a old house. According to the Texas Gun Collectors article by Tom Powers that was written about this pistol and will come with it  Frio City  from 1876-1880 was the cowboy capital and the outpost cultural center of Southwest, Texas.  He further states that the stone jail once held the likes of Sam Bass.and  Frank & Jesse James . Indian and bandit raids were a real problem in the 1870's . In 1876 Gov.Coke sent in the Texas Rangers under the command of Capt. Leander McNulty to address the Indian and Bandit situation which they promptly did.  This pistol is frozen solid and the hammer rests on a empty cylinder with the other 5 loaded. The gun may have originally been captured from an Indian as the grips show signs of having been tacked on the right side. Obviously, these are not the original factory grips but were replaced during it's period of use. All the serial numbers(15232) match.  Also, with the pistol will be the original owners (Trey Martin) letter dated 1999 stating that in 1987 he was a contractor working in Frio Town and a bricklayer working for him found this Colt.  This is a true untouched 1870's Texas Colt with very interesting provenance.
