I'm always amazed when I wind a 150 year old watch and it starts ticking again as this one does. I know very little about watches so I'll described what I see. The watch case is stamped "Fine Silver' over the inscription which reads" From Ellen To my Loving Husband John Till Texas Militia September 9,1862". The face of the watch says Roger & Co. Geneva . The back of the watch say No.8340 Straitline 15 Jewel Roger & Co. Geneva. The front of the case exhibits a single Star(Texas) and the inside is numbered 8340. Please refer to the cover sheet for the history of Pvt. John Till.
