These early Hawks seldom come up for sale and are rarely offered. According to the late John Baldwin's book"Tomahawks-Pipe Axes ' which is the defintive work on these, this is a phase I period . This dates it as the second half of the 18th century. It still retains it's original 21 1/2" haft which exhibits a great patina and retains 2 brass tacks on top. The head is a very unique design with a tear drop eye and still retains part of it's original gasket. It's length is 7 1/2" X 3 1/16" with a 1 3/4" unsaddled bowl. If you've been looking for a French & Indian War / Rev.War PipeTomahawk this would be a great addition.
