This neat Bowie surfaced in New Orleans  right after Hurricane Katrina.  It obviously laid on something corrosive for many years. This in turn ate through the original scabbard and into the blade. The blade is 9" o/a with a 4" false edge and still exhibits part of the Mississippi and all of the Toaster etched on it's right side. Manufactured for F.C. Goergen New Orleans is engraved on the back of the blade.  He worked in New Orleans fron 1842 until his death in 1849. The mounts are all german silver and the grips are black ebony.  Refer to pg.325 in Flayderman's "The Bowie Knife " for similar examples. These New Orleans Bowie's are the most sort after and hardest to find of all the Bowie's .
