This is a nice honest Dublin Castle light dragoon pistol. It's got a period applied coat of flat black paint for protection . This would suggest sea service or frontier use. The 9" barrel is .70 cal. and exhibits a proof mark on the paint on the top of the barrel. The lock frizzen has been resoled and appears to need it again. This pistol has seen much use but is mechanically sound and all there. Dublin Castle guns were sent to the Colonies for local militia use. A very hard pistol to find. There's only one listed in George Neumann's "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution pg.237.
