Gen. John Porter Hatch was a career military man who started his service during the Mex.-Amer.War and retired in 1886 after many engagements with the Indians in the post Civil War West.  He was awarded the  Medal of Honor for his gallant action at South Mountain even though he was severely  wounded.  Please refer to my cover sheet for some of the history of this brave man.
The pistol was obviously acquired by him in the Civil War and would have went West with him after the Civil War.  It retains quite a bit of it’s original factory blue finish and is mechanically sound. This is one of the most historical pieces I’ve ever owned.  It’s not everyday that you get a chance to own a Congressional  Medal of Honor winners pistol.
