​This is a wonderful looking untouched Rev.War  Brown Bess ​ Liege  musket .​ It exhibits a beautiful untouched even patina overall.  It's so untouched that I decided to leave a spot of blue paint on the barrel where it's sat for years (easily removed if you'd like).  According to "The Brown Bess " by Erik Goldstein and Stuart Mowbray these  Liege  ​Brown Bess' are scarce. They were produced for the British government based on the Short Land Pattern (2nd Model) in the Low Countries of Belgium (Liege ) and the Netherlands in 1778.  The book further states that  these Liege muskets ​were sent to America for use by the Loyalist troops.   The lock is of classic Liege design with the shaded engraved Tower and the shorter wider Crown over GR.  The action works fine on both half and full cock. The deep chocolate brown  42" barrel is of .80 cal. and exhibits the American addition of a rear sight cut into it's barrel tang.  Also, has a raised IG in a sunken rectangular cartouche stamped by it's breech. This is believed to be the initials of Liege gunmaker Jean Gosvin.  The nicest one of these I've had the pleasure of offering for sale.
