This is one of the earliest English Blunderbuss pistols I’ve ever seen it dares from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. The pistol has an engraved banana shaped lock with a detached unbridled pan.The ramrod is a replacement. The sideplate is also engraved and at one time had a belt hook. The wood is very good with a minor 1 1/2′ crack at the muzzle end but is stable and doesn’t detract from the pistol at all. The barrel is octagon to round with a iron tang. The patina on the barrel is just beautiful. The wrist escutcheon is held on by early hand made square nails. If you have an early first model Brown Bess with the banana shaped lock this would be the perfect companion .
