This is a really rare Colt with only 950 mfg. between 1838-41.  The serial #122 is stamped on the back of the barrel and cylinder. The wedge is serial #150 so it's from another carbine. This leads me to beleive that this may have been one of the ones that went to the military or to the Texas militia.  The carbine is in very good shape with a wonderful deep bluish-brown patina.There's a small wood chip along the breech tang. The action functions flawlessly. This carbine is one of the first ones mfg. in 1838.  A real must have for the Colt collector as these rarely come up for sale.
