This is one of the earliest trapdoors issued it’s serial  #2774 places it in the group of 77 that were issued to Co.K 4th Cav.  in the 3rd quarter of 1874 while stationed at FT.Clark,Texas.  This carbine saw many years of service with the 4th Cav. in the Indian Wars and Mexican fighting.   It still retains it’s original high arch breech , frame , rear sight and 2 click lock(which is corrrect on these early guns)  The stock has the upgraded short wrist with the compartment for the rods in the butt. Please read my cover sheet for the details of the many battles that the 4th Cav. participated in. A really great Indian Wars piece that was issued to a unit that saw much of the fighting.
