Totally Untouched Attic Condition. This great musket was just found in upstate New York and is brand new to the collecting faternity.  The only markings that I can see are on the Butt tang. They are an engraving of "Lady Liberty holding a F/L Pistol in one hand and a sword in the other followed by ‘For American Liberty’ ".  In all my years of being involved in the Antique Arms business I’ve never seen anything like this.  The musket itself was definetly made for military use as it exhibits an under barrel bayonet lug.  The barrel is .69 cal. and 43 1/2" long with a front sight.  There’s also a rear sight groove cut into the barrel tang.  In the pictures you can see where a small area of the comb was cut out in order to fasciltate a cheek rest for aiming purposes.  The wood is splintered away on the end of the forestock and has a couple of cracks but is solid.  All the furniture is brass and retains a beautiful patina as does the rest of the musket. The ramrod looks like it’s been gone forever and the top jaw of the lock is gone. I can’t reminder the last time I came across such a neat untouched Patriotic gun.
