“Bucks Vols.”

A War of 1812 British pistol identified to the “Bucks ” on it’s trigger guard. The 85th (Bucks Volunteers) Regiment of Foot were raised in 1793. They saw service in the French Revolution , Napoleonic Wars and North America in the War of 1812. They arrived here in North America in May of 1814 just in time for the Battle of Bladensburg and the Burning of Washington. The regiment accompanied by detachments from the Royal Navy  and Royal Marines carried out a successful attack on the American positions on the west bank of the Mississippi River during the Battle on New Orleans in January of 1815. Identified arms from the War of 1812 are rarer then Rev. War items.  A very historic pistol!
