This a 2nd model Brown Bess musket that was American captured and restocked. The stock retains the British designed long fluted buttstock but with a distinct New England drop. The buttstock also has a Christian Cross that was carved in it by the American soldier who carried it. You can see wear the original stock broke at the wrist as there was a repair to the brass trigger guard. The musket most have been used as a club in hand to hand combat. Obviously ,the American won. The 41 1/2" barrel retains two British proofs and the orinal barrel makers intial. A really neat Revolutionary War musket that saw action on both sides.
