This is an absolutely untouched 2 band Enfield. The rifle retains a wonderful crusty patina. The engraved numbered butt tang is clear and very readable as is the bayonet lug. When I purchased the rifle it was missing a ramrod which I’ve since added. According to Capt. Caleb Huse, who was the Confederate purchasing agent in England, these 2 band short rifles were bought in a ratio of one for each seven 3 band rifles . This rifle would be an asset to any Civil War Collection.
