This is a well worn Civil War U.S Remington Army revolver carried by a very famous man. The left grip is carved " E. OTIS US 4th CAV. " which was done in the period of use and exhibits much wear on the carving. The right grips front toe has had a piece of wood replaced. All the serial numbers match. The action works well and locks up tight. Col. Otis would have carried this pistol in the Civil War and after during the early part of the Indian Wars probabily up to the mid 1870’s. He spent many years out West in Texas and Dakota Terr. He took over command of the 7th Cav. after Custer. Also he was a member of the court-martial board that dismissed Major Reno. A very historical pistol !
