I've always had a soft spot for Civil War relic guns but this is the first one I've owned where a tree grew around it. This neat novelty was on display for many years in Uncle Bud's Restaurant on rte.431 between Franklin and Nashville. Obviously, the soldier rested it on the crotch of a tree limb in order to steady his aim. Whatever happened to him and the rest of the pistol we'll never know. Over the years that followed the tree limb grew around the barrel encasing it. ​
