This sword was owned and carried by Sgt. /Lt. David Caswells of Herricks Vermont Regt.  He also fought at the Battle of Plattsburgh in the War of 1812.  The sword itself is an early design from the French & Indian War period.  The 27" blade exhibits some blood pitting from it's point back for 3". The bone grips are in a spiral design with his name and year on the high flat of the surface and exhibiting much wear. A nice and historical sword which comes with a file documenting him and his rank and service.
