This great pistol is pictured in Colt Brevete Revolvers by Roy Marcot & Ron Paxton on pages 66 & 68. They state that "In their multi-year study on Colt Brevete revolvers only three copies of Colt Walkers were found". This is not only exceedingly rare because of only three being known to exist but also because of the cylinder. The cylinder was manfactured opened in the area that covers the spindle lubricating grooves. I believe this was done in order to insert a removable fitting or collar which held a lubricant for the grooves but was also solid on it's exterior wall which was exposed to cylinder. Let's remember that the mid 1850's was a wonderful time of experimentation and advances in weaponry. What ever it was for obviously it didn't work as I've never seen another like it. The cylinder itself still has some of it's original cylinder scene which is faint but visible. The pistol has been shot alot as the bore is pretty dirty but the correct Walker rifling is still visible. The only serial number visible on the pistol is 5_414 which is on the frame. Obviously this was done to imply that many of these were manufactured which we know just isn't so. The action is good and locks up tight. This is a true quality period Brevete Walker and not a cheap 20th century Mexican copy. My picture number 9 shows the pistol as it appears in the book. The book which was printed in 2011 will come with the pistol. It's been signed by both authors. For those who would like a true 1850's Walker for your collection without having to spend several hundred thousand dollars this is a rare opportunity.
