This great historical sword is out of my personal collection. It was purchased 10 years ago from theTilton family in New Hampshire where it had been for the past 250 years.  The first Tilton to use this sword was Pvt.Caleb Tilton serving under Capt.Jonathan Tilton in the French & Indian War. He went on to carry it again in the American Revolution as a Lt. serving in Col.Wingate's Regt. He participated in the invasion of Canada and the battle of Quebec with Benedict Arnold. The next Tilton to use the sword Sgt. John S Tilton in the Mex-Amer.War serving in the 23rd NH.Artillery. The final Tilton to use the sword was Lt.Chas.W.Tilton in the Civil War(whether it's initails or Caleb on the grip no one knows). He enlisted as a Lt. in the 9th NH.Inf. and was WIA at Antietam after recovering from his wounds he transferred to the 4th NH Inf where he served out the war. In the 4th he participated in many major battles such as Drury's Bluff, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Mine Explosion,Fair Oaks, and the assault and capture of Ft.Fisher. The sword is 32"O/A with a 26 1/2" blade in really good condition. It's almost identical to one pictured in George Neumann's book on Rev.War Weapons. The scabbard is missing it's brass tip. The sword comes with some original family documents and is a great opportunety to acquire a sword that participated in the birth of our nation thru our Civil War.
