The British Hanoverian period lasted from 1714-1837 . This longarm is a good example of the early German workmanship that ended up in America and evolved into the Pennsylvania rifle. Similar stock carvings as on this gun can be obversed on early American rifles from the Old School. The 37 1/4" octagon /round barrel with wedding bands and many proofs stamps all inlaid with gold is .68 cal.  Also inlaid in gold is Anno 1719 and Es Quibel. The lock is of early Germanic style and works very well. The brass sideplate exhibits a really neat forward facing Dragon . On the left buttstock you can still see the original carving but after 300 years is now faint. The forestock has many area's of period wood repair with no effort made to hide them . The ramrod still has it's original ramrod.  A really wonderful looking very early gun.
