A very attractive raised grained curly maple stocked Kentucky Rifle by  J.H. Johnston  of  Waynesboro , Pa. The rifle started life as a flintlock and was converted to percussion during it’s period of use. It’s had some wood repair in the lock area which is imperceptible without removing the lock.  The stock exhibits some fine incised carving throughout . It appears to retain it’s original ramrod.  The 41″ octagon barrel is of .45 cal.  A  rifle from the period of our country’s western expansion in 1830’s-1840’s.
