This early Baby Dragoon was manufactured in 1848 and has all matching serial numbers ( 2917). These were the first pocket models to be manufactured at the new Colt Hartford plant after the collapse of the Paterson plant. So it's not a surprise that these early ones bare a strong resemblance to the Paterson pocket models. This pistol exhibits a pleasing even blue-brown patina. The back strap and trigger guard retain most of their factory nickel finish. There's about 30% of the cylinder scene still present. The bore is still pretty strong with good rifling. These Baby Dragoons were popular with the '49's in the California Gold Rush.
