These Dragoon muskets are very scarce. This one is all correct with the only modification being the addition of a iron ramrod. These muskets were original made without a nose cap (like this one) as they had wooden ramrods. If you look at the picture of the forward ramrod you can see that there isn't any flare to the mouth of the pipe. This feature didn't come into play until the use of iron ramrods .The 41 1/2" barrel has the correct proofs on the top of the barrel and it has a rear sighting groove cut into the barrel and tang. This was something that the Americans would do as they always aimed a musket where as the British were trained to load, point and fire a volley. So it's fairly safe to assume this was an American captured musket. The Tower lock has a nice GR Crown and Broad Arrow and functions well. The musket has a beautiful overall patina with a deep brown to the metal. A really nice and highly collectible Rev.War. musket.
