A very historic Rev.War 'Charleville ' musket that's been in my personal collection for many years. It's a model 1766 and crudely engraved on the barrel "James Downer his Gonn 17?7 " . Unfortunetly, the third number has faded out. There's a plate with the # 61 on the left butt stock which may be a museum or collectors inventory number. The musket is in very good shape with a beautiful even patina overall. At one time the wrist exhibited a heart shaped escutcheon which is now gone. James Downer saw action in both the French & Indian War and the American Revolution.
