These early German Jaeger (Hunter) pistols were used in the American Revolution by Hessian Officers. This pistol exhibits a beautiful combination of both rococo and incised carving. Incised carved aroung the trigger guard and rococo around the barrel tang , ramrod channel and rear entry pipe. There are raised paddles around both the lock and the sideplate. The brass furniture retains high relief engraving with military motifs on the butt cap and squireback trigger guard. The 9 3/4" Damascus barrel has a raised ridge with a .50 cal bore and 7 groove rifling. A very attractive and historic pistol.
