This rare U.S Holster is identical to the one pictured in"Packing Iron" by Richard Rattenbury .  It was an experimental holster credited to Capt.James Ropes of the 8th Cav. while stationed at Ft.Ringgold,Tx.  I took a picture of the one in the book and you can read the description under the picture.  The Holster is all there and original.  The only thing done to it was to strenghten the cartridge loop stitching which was quit lose when I got it.  This Rare Holster will compliment any Indian Wars display.  In fact, I’ve never seen another one offered for sale.
