I acquired this Colt several years ago from a Illinois retired High School teacher.  It will come with a letter stating where he acquired the gun( refer to pic. #6).  Of course there's no definite way of positively proving it belonged to Jesse Jesse but then again it may have. The inscription on the bottom of the barrel under the loading lever is very old and of the period . Another factor in favor of Jesse possible ownership of this pistol is the 1864 date . It's a known fact that Jesse joined "Bloody" Bill Anderson's guerila's in 1864. There's a famous photo of Jesse James taking in 1864 when he was 17 years old. In the photo he's hold what appears to be a mdl.1860 Colt Army with two 1851 Colt Navy's in his belt. I've accumulated a pretty extensive file on Bloody Bill Anderson and Quantrill of which both Jesse and his brother Frank rode. Much of the information I've gathered refers to the Colt Navy as being the weapon they prefered. It was light and easy to carry and shoot from horseback.  They acquired these pistols mostly from fallen Union soldiers. Many of the guerilla's carried 3-4 pistols which gave them tremendous fire power. The pistol itself has all matching serial numbers and the action is good. This is really a pretty neat pistol .
P.S. I suggest when viewing the photo's that you click on the (Enlarge) button.
