This is one of the earliest known model 1803 Rifles. The lock is dated 1804 and still has the U.S in front of the cock but most of the eagle is gone. The oct./rd. barrel is 32 3/4' o/a with a crusty brown patina. The rifling is long gone. You can still make out the serial number 708 but barely. The wood is in very good condition exhibiting a rich glossy patina. All the brass has taken on a beautiful dark golden patina. The action works fine holding and releasing both of half and full cock. An almost impossible rifle to find these days.
