This is a real Cowboy gun with a really great set of grips.  There made from prehistoric Woolly Mammoth Ivory and have a Indian Princess Gold dollar inserted in the right grip and a 1871 Silver Dime in the left grip.  The grips are thousands of years old so they do have some wonderful age crack’s.  I believe this was one of a pair as the serial number on the barrel is off but close enough for a pair.  The action is really crisp and smooth.  Whoever carried this piece was a serious customer.
Colt only made 2100 of these guns and to find one with these factory Woolly Mammoth grips is really a rarity. This is only the second set of these grips that I’ve owned in over 35 years of collecting. The other set was on a 1851 Colt Navy.
