This is a nice all orig. trapdoor rifle without any upgrades. The condition is really great with some orig.color and a good patina. The wood has good ESA and P cartouches and the bore is very good. The serial number# 9604 puts it's date of Mfg. as 1874. The bottom of the forestock is branded " 1st Regt.". They were heavily involved in the Western Indian Wars from the 1870's thru the 1890's. In particular with the Sioux Campaign of the 1870's. They also saw action in the Spanish American War and the Phillipine Insurrection. In Cuba they were instumental in the taking of Santiago and San Juan Hts. A great addition to any western or Span-Am. collection. Sold
