A really serious "Belly Gun". The man who carried this had it professionally modified for one thing. To get off alot of rounds close up and very fast. The barrel has been modified to 2" and the hammer spur was deleted. The pistol still retains about 40% nickle finish. The first year production one piece checkered rosewood grips are in pretty good condition. The 3 digit serial # 698 matches on all visible parts. The action works very well. I was told that the pistol was found in an old mining town in Colorado by the name of "Tincup. Colorado" I looked it up and there was a prospector by the name of Jim Taylor who in 1859 panned some gold in Willow Creek and carried it back to camp in a tin cup. He named the valley Tin Cup Valley. In 1878 more gold was found and the town’s name was changed to Virginia City. In 1882 because of the confusion with Virginia City Montana and Nevada the town’s name was changed back to Tin Cup. The town was a very violent place losing it’s first Marshal Harry Rivers to a gunfight in 1882 and it’s second Andy Jackson was shot to death in 1883. Once the gold ran out the town closed up in 1918. This is verbal history but it sure fits the look of this pistol. Early pistol with a great western look. Sold
