This is a really attractive "Belly Gun ".  The 1 1/2 barrel is .41 cal. with a "J" on the bottom. This may be the engravers initial . The engraving is finely executed and the Silver finish is turning black in the recess’. This patina really gives the pistol a beautiful look.  The pistol’s serial number is 38672 and all matching.  This serial number puts the year of mfg. as 1882.  The action works fine on both single and double action.
