This pistol comes with a factory letter stating that it was shipped in 1888 to Mexico City, Mexico. I assume that Tom Hicks bought this pistol there while touring with one of the Wild West shows. The paperwork that came with the pistol states the he was Sharpshooter with both the Buffalo Bill and the Indian Pete Culbertson Wild West shows. The pistol was reworked for trick shooting having it’s barrel cut to 4 1/2" and the bore smoothed for trick loads. About 85% of the pistols original nickle finish is still present with the exception of the sideplate where engraving his name and sharpshooter broke the nickle finish which allowed moisture to penitrate causing some pitting. All in all a pretty nice pistol and holster that was carried by a famous western figure. The action works well on both single and double action.
The holster has the name TOM stamped on it.
