This kind of Musket /Fowler was very popular in New England during the post French & Indian War period. It served the dual purpose of a Militia musket and also as a game getter on the farm. This great gun is totally untouched and is American assembled from pre French and Indian War components.  The British lock is an early banana shape stamped by Jordan 1747 under the U.S surcharge.  It also has the remnants of a crown and a broad arrow under the pan.  The 45 1/2" barrel is an early French barrel with a crown over SE (St. Etienne mfg.)stamp.  The cock is also of French Mfg.  The ramrod pipes were made for a wooden ramrod which is still present.  You can see a period repair to the right buttstock  which is about the size of a pistol ball.  These are the type of early American muskets that were at Bunker Hill and Lexington & Concord
