This rare musket saw considerable heavy service and is well worn.  The stock has had some area's of professional restoration which was done very well . The roman numerals XXII are still visible in the ramrod channel between the second and third ramrod thimbles. As you can see in the pictures the thimbles are straight without any flare which is correct for a wooden ramrod. Also, the absence of a nose cap which is also correct for a wooden ramrod.  The lock is a reconversion which is almost impossible to tell as it was done using the proper original parts.  Overall the musket has a pretty good look to it. The 1742 Tower lock functions very well holding and releasing on both half and full cock.   The early banana shaped lock and heavy swell to the forestock are very attractive features on this musket. These Type 1 early muskets are almost impossible to find nowadays . It's been quite sometime since I've seen one of these for sale.  A very presentable musket that would fit nicely in any quality French & Indian War collection.
