This is a early 3rd mdl. Brown Bess with the large bulbous forend swell and a Tower lock with the broad arrow. The musket was issued to the 13th Regt.  as marked on the 39" barrel.  The gun is an obvious American captured piece with the shaved butt stock comb and a brass tack.  The Americans would shave the stock combs in order to vascilate aiming the gun . The ramrod is an American replacement and so is the last 2" of the forestock . The musket functions but the main spring is weak.
The 13th Regt. saw alot of action in America during the War of 1812. They were at the Battles of Plattsburg , Burton Ville,
and Lacolle Mills. This historic musket could have been captured by the American forces at any one of these battles.  A rarely seen historic piece from the War of 1812.
