This is a well marked Indian Trade Gun from the Little Big Horn era. It's got the Hudson Bay Co. Tombstone Fox over EB on both the barrel and lock. Along with the Fox in the Circle Hudson Bay acceptance cartouche on the right buttstock. The lock is marked Parker Field & Co. 1868 and has had it's top jaw and screw replaced during it's period of use . Sitting Bull carried a Parker Field & Co. 1870 dated Hudson Bay Trade Gun. This neat piece was acquired from a man who lived on the Indian Reserve in Manawaki , Quebec and will come with correspondence letter. It's a known fact that after the Battle of the Little Big Horn Sitting Bull took his band north into Canada where they stayed for the next 5 years. They faced starvation much of the time and ended up selling off many their personal items including their firearms for food. A nice honest Indian gun !
