According to the records James Golcher who was known for his locks, opened up his own Pistol/Rifle manufacturing facility in the 1830’s. It was officially named Eagle Gun Works. I do have some papers stating that Golcher partnered with H. Elwell to form Eagle Gun Works/Factory. This beautiful pistol has a 65 .cal rifled 9" octagon barrel with Philada engraved on it’s top flat. The wood appears to be American maple with alot of fiddleback which is very attractive. It also has a beautiful 1/2" wooden inlay on both sides of the forestock . At first I thought it was a repair but it’s actually a design. The furniture is iron with a typical Philadelphia pineapple design on the trigger guard. A really eye appealing and super rare pistol.
