The heavy barrel on this rifle is stamped " M.L. Rood- Denver, C.T (Colorado Territory) -Cast Steel-Warranted ". Morgan L. Rood was a gunsmith in Denver, Colo. Terr. from 1859 to 1881.  This barrel started out in a Buffalo Gun and ended up years later in a Target Gun. The rifle is 18 LBS. with a .50 cal 33 1/2" barrel which ends with a round bullet starter. The rifling appears pretty good. It's got a impressive looking  Buckhorn rear sight with a Rocky Mountain front sight and appears to have had a scope at one time. The stock is a beautiful curly maple.  It's missing the barrel tang and hammer screws. Also the set trigger needs adjusting.   Certainly worth bringing back to life as I imagine this would be a fun piece to shoot.
