This is a really attractive untouched early Colt Baby Dragoon . The pistol has a surface coating of old dried grease mostly around the screws that could easily be removed, if so desired. Personally, I like the untouched look. The pistol functions properly and has all matching serial numbers. The cylinder scene is about 50% which would improve with careful cleaning. The 4" barrel has a decent bore and a nice address. One of the most attractive feature of these early Baby Dragoons is the steep angle of the bottom of the grips such as this one. The grips retain about 80% of their original factory varnish. The backstrap exhibits about 60% of it's original factory nickle finish. The serial number 2506 would make this one of the earliest pistols manufactured in 1848. These early pistols were very popular in the gold fields of Calif. .
