The Kuchenreuter family of gunmakers were first established in the 1650's. They were known for their high quality arms and were the choice of  European nobility. They counted among their noted customers Emperior Napoleon 1 and Frederick the Great.  Famous womanizer Giacomo Casanova fought a duel using a pair of Kuchenreuter pistols.  This pair was made by Johann Jacob Kuchenreuter (b.1709, d.1783 ). They are in beautiful condition . The 12 1/4" barrels are signed and numbered 1 & 2  They exhibit gold touch holes and  retain much of their original finish.  The stocks exhibit a tasteful combination of both rococco and incised carving with horn nose caps.  There's a minor age line crack on the grip of pistol # 1 which is solid and barely percievable . All the furniture on both pistols are gold washed including the flash pans.  It appears that pistol #2 was never fired as it retains all of it's original gold wash on it's flash pan.  It's obvious that these pistols were a prized family possession passed down through the century's.  Pistols of this quality are pretty scarce!
