T.J. Albright setup shop in St.Louis in 1840. At the time St.Louis was the hub for the Fur trade and the Western migration. This beautiful pair are signed T.J. Albright – St. Louis on their 8″ .36 cal. barrels. Both pistols are number on the bottom of their barrels and on their forend caps. My pictures start with # 79 and are in order. Like most pairs of pistols one has seen more use then the other. Number 79 is the stronger of the two retaining a good amount of it’s original barrel brown stripped finish. Where as #80 has seen the heavier use with most of it’s finish gone and some wear and pitting by the barrel name. Also, the lock holds fine on full cock but not half. Both pistols have single set triggers. Mountain man era St. Louis pistols are difficult to find but a matched pair is a true rarity!
