A really neat watch with alot of western history. The extent of my knowledge on watch’s is very limited. I have however handled many inscribed pieces over the years and the inscription inside the cover certainly is period. Please refer to the 1932 dated letter of provenance which states how the previous owners grandfather obtained the watch from John Behan. He was involved with the law his whole life. He’s best remembered for his involvement with the Earps in Tombstone, A.T. His last assignment was with the Treasury Dept. as a Customs Agent in El Paso, Texas. I’ve accumulated a pretty extensive file on John Behan which shows him to be a pretty good lawman. Unfortunately, he died in 1917 and Wyatt Earp lived ’til 1929 and in his last years he ended up in Hollywood where the legend of the Gun fight at the O.K was told by him!
